ABOUT ME

Charley Rose operates at the crossroads of rock, free jazz, and contemporary jazz, with a strong interest in 20th-century music—particularly the works of Stravinsky, Prokofiev, and Ligeti. Driven by these eclectic influences, he founded the experimental Larchey Zore Quartet, dedicated to a bold exploration of extreme musical forms. In 2016, he formed the Charley Rose Trio alongside Enzo Carniel and Ariel Tessier. Their first album was released in 2018 on the Déluge label, followed by a second record in November 2023. Winners of Jazz Migration #7, the trio has performed at numerous festivals across France and throughout Europe.

In parallel, Charley co-leads the Perceptions Trio, an adventurous ensemble in which he explores effect pedals as a way to introduce chance as an additional parameter in improvisation. Their album, released in February 2025, received an enthusiastic review and was awarded 4 stars by the renowned magazine DownBeat.

His solo project, Resonance of Sensation, scheduled for release in late 2024, explores the relationship between painting and music. Inspired by Gilles Deleuze’s Logic of Sensation, this work delves musically into the pictorial universe of Francis Bacon.

In 2025, he launched The Vibrant Machines, a living tribute to Dada sculptor Jean Tinguely, bringing together artists such as Samuel Blaser, Lisette Spinnler, Domenic Landolf, Jeanne Larrouturou, and Akil Djan.

Over the years, Charley Rose has performed as both a leader and sideman at numerous festivals across four continents, affirming his presence on the international music scene.
